| Residents urged to sign petition to save Wimbledon Village Post Office |
|
Following the Royal Mail’s announcement that Wimbledon Village post office faces closure, Wimbledon Business Association members, including local estate agents, Quinton Scott are uniting to organise a petition that will be presented to Stephen Hammond, the local MP.
Those wishing to sign the petition against the post office closure should visit the Quinton Scott office at 24 High Street in Wimbledon Village. Quinton Scott are publicising the campaign in all their promotional materials and a notice has also been posted in their office window. Brian Johnson, manager of Quinton Scott’s Wimbledon Village office, said, “We’ll be very sad to see the post office disappear, as it remains integral to the character of the community here in the Village. I would like to encourage people to sign the petition because this closure will be to the detriment of both local businesses and residents, especially the elderly and those with young children.” Brian continued, “The Royal Mail has plans to close 169 Post Office branches across London and is currently conducting a public consultation exercise so it is important residents of Wimbledon express their support for keeping the post office by either signing the petition or getting involved in the campaign.” |
